Life among the pagodas
In the time of the Kings of Israel, the city of Jerusalem was under siege by the Arameans. The people of the city were starving, and four lepers decided to risk their swiftly-fading lives by going to the enemy camp to look for food.
They found not only food, but that the army had fled, and left everything behind. They began to search through their new-found treasure.
Then they said to one another, “We are not doing right. This day is a day of good news. If we are silent and wait until the morning light, punishment will overtake us. Now therefore come; let us go and tell the king’s household.”
If we truly see the value of the gospel, the worth of the Son of God, we will not horde it for ourselves. In the message of Christ dying, defeating death and returning to give us his spirit, there is treasure enough for all.
Will we wait until morning?
